work stress & generational trauma THERAPIST IN Portland, OR

IT’S TIME TO RECONNECT WITH WHAT YOU WANT.

Rani gupta, LCSW

You're here because you want to feel your feelings.

You remember a time when mounting work responsibilities, microaggressions at work, and disconnection from friends and family weren’t the norm…but those days feel like a distant memory. Don’t you wish you had the tools to change that?

You’re in the right spot.

I’m Rani, and I help millennial and Gen Z professionals just like you: ones who have it within them to create a more balanced life and have more fulfilling relationships but just need the support to get there.

I help my clients find confidence, grounding, and fulfillment by equipping them with the tools they need to feel more connected with their emotions and feel more connected with others in their life.

How I work

At the core of my approach to therapy is a belief that you already have what you need to heal - you just need some guidance.

I am dedicated to helping people feel more connected and vulnerable in their relationships.

My training in trauma, and particularly the impacts of racial microaggressions in the workplace, means I have expertise you need and deserve when processing work stress and healing your relationships. But at the end of the day, you want to know you’re working with someone who “gets” what it means to be an ambitious, sensitive-hearted young professional struggling with work stress, right?

I get it because I’ve lived it myself. I have devoted my career to working with multiply marginalized folks of color and mixed race folks. I know that sometimes you wonder, “Who am I outside of this job?” I know you grapple with trying to have hobbies again. So when we work together, you won’t just get a trained therapist. You’ll get someone who truly understands what you’re going through.

HEre’s what I believe about therapy:

This isn't about becoming someone "different."

I recognize that, while therapy alone cannot solve larger sociopolitical issues like surviving under capitalism, it can be a place where you can come to greater understand yourself and how your experiences and environment affect you.

The best investment you can make is in yourself.

Engaging in this healing journey is a gift to your current self and your future self, and a loving embrace to your younger self.

You are inherently deserving of healthy, loving relationships.

I know that turning to community can sometimes be a fraught experience, but it can also be a place of great healing. We can and will hold space not just for the traumas you’ve experienced, but also for the ways you’ve kept yourself safe.

Get the support that’s right for you.

  • Since part of our work together will be helping you live a more full, balanced life, you should know that I also aim to practice what I preach! So, the following may be things you want to know:

    • I’m a cis biracial (Indian and Spanish) woman who lives with an active chronic illness. I spent many years trying to push aside my body’s needs until I finally stopped to listen and honor what my body was telling me.

    • Many of my formative years were spent listening to and participating in DIY punk and hardcore in various capacities. I still play music (part of living my full, balanced life!), and there’s a small chance you may see me playing around town from time to time.

    • I’m caste-privileged and support the abolition of caste. (In other words, if you are looking for a therapist to affirm any pro-caste/casteist sentiments, I am not the therapist for you!)

  • I’m trained in a variety of therapy methods, allowing me to tailor my approach to your unique goals and needs. I have completed my EMDRIA-approved EMDR training, as well as Flash Technique training, and have EMDR-specific consultation. Though EMDR is my primary modality, I also incorporate elements of relational-cultural theory and parts work in my clinical practice.
