Frequently asked questions

Got questions? I’ve got answers.

  • I’m located in Oregon, and my practice is telehealth-only (aka online only) for you millennial and Gen Z professionals here in Oregon!

  • My work hours are Tuesdays through Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and my practice is telehealth-only. I currently have limited openings for weekly telehealth clients. Please note that since I’m licensed in Oregon, I can only see clients who currently reside within Oregon. I do not offer in-person sessions.

  • I’m going to be honest about this upfront: I am strict about my cancellation policy!

My clients have a 48 business hour cancellation and rescheduling policy. For example, if a client’s weekly appointment time is at 1 p.m. on Wednesdays, they must let me know that they need to cancel or reschedule by 1 p.m. on Monday.

Clients who do not give me 48 business hours notice, or those who no-show their appointments, will be charged my full fee.

  • My current fees are $195 for 50-minute individual therapy sessions and $270 for the initial 90-minute assessment.

The short answer is no, I don’t take insurance. However, I can provide a superbill if you have out of network benefits through your health insurance! If you’d like a superbill, please contact your insurance provider directly to confirm what your out-of-network benefits are. You would be responsible for paying my full fee at the time of service; I could then provide the superbill that you would be responsible for submitting to your insurance company. (Please note though: Many insurance companies require a mental health diagnosis, even for superbills! Just some food for thought if you have strong feelings about a mental health diagnosis on your record.)

Payment is expected at the time of service, and I accept payment with debit or credit cards.

  • There are a few reasons I don’t accept insurance. While using insurance is an option that many understandably utilize, there are important limitations to consider when using insurance to pay for therapy. Increasingly, insurance companies are choosing to: prioritize brief types of therapy, stop covering sessions after an arbitrary number of sessions has occurred, or stop covering sessions after a certain amount of time has passed. (Which doesn’t exactly line up with the time the body needs to safely process childhood, generational, ancestral, or historical traumas, as many of us know!)

I am highly intentional with the number of clients I take on in my practice, which is why I only work with folks who are ready to prioritize our work together. My clients have their set appointment times that are reserved for them on a weekly basis. Being intentional with my time also means that I reserve time for further training, participating in my consult groups, and ensuring that I engage in community care and self-care so I don’t burn out in this work, which all translate to a higher quality clinical care for you.

As a therapist, it’s important for me to be able to cultivate relationships with my clients without an insurance company’s demands looming over us, like requiring a you to have a mental health diagnosis that can potentially follow you for years, or limiting the number of sessions they choose to cover. I set up my practice so that I can work with you.

  • I have very limited number of sliding scale spots on my caseload. Sliding scale spots range from $140-185 and are open only for individuals seeking weekly individual therapy via telehealth.

I reserve these spots for folks who are newer in their career paths, particularly for those who are new graduates:

    • From an undergrad program, a graduate program, or a doctoral program

    • And/or the main financial support for their parents, siblings, or their own kids

  • If it seems that we’d likely be a good fit, we’ll go ahead and schedule a 90-minute assessment appointment. After the assessment is complete, and if we both still agree that we’d be a good fit, we’ll start individual therapy sessions.

Given the deep, exploratory, and healing work that I do with folks, I do not typically provide short-term therapy, and I do not provide adjunctive EMDR.

  • I don’t work with couples, families, or kids. Since I focus on working with millennial and Gen Z professionals, I typically work with individuals between the ages of 25-42. If you’re looking for a couples therapist, family therapist, or child/adolescent therapist, I can provide some referrals.

  • You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate”, which explains how much your care will cost. This document is required to be provided to you when you aren’t using health insurance, or when you don’t have insurance, to pay for medical or mental health services. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total estimated cost of any non-emergency services.

We would be a good fit if

You’re worried about sharing more with people in your life, but you also want to feel more comfortable sharing about your life with them

You’re ready to invest in your healing work. You’re ready to schedule your own sessions, commit to weekly sessions, and attend your scheduled sessions.

You’re a millennial or Gen Z professional who’s a self-described high achiever but also in touch with your emotions…and maybe a little sensitive!

You want a therapist who will show up as her empathetic, friendly, silly self and who will question the versions of “professionalism” that are rooted in white supremacy culture and the various -isms

We wouldn’t be a good fit if…

You aren’t sure you want therapy, but people in your life are trying to forcefully push you to do it

You aren’t ready to take a proactive stance in your own life, and you want a therapist to tell you what you should do with your life

You either aren’t ready to commit to weekly sessions, or you want therapy multiple times a week plus additional support between sessions

You want a therapist who will engage in “debate” with you about whether various forms of oppression/violence against marginalized communities are real
